Welcome to the home page of Chris Torrence, STEM Instructor at Summit Middle Charter School, in Boulder, Colorado.
I'll be teaching Introduction to Programming, Creative Design, Robotics and Engineering Lab. In Introduction to Programming we'll learn the fundamentals of computer science using the Python programming language. In Engineering Lab we'll be focused on building experiments for a high-altitude balloon launch sponsored by EOSS. In Robotics we will use VEX and build unique designs to solve predetermined challenges.
In addition to teaching, I'm also the Lead Developer for the Interactive Data Language. Before that, I was a post-doc at NCAR, where I studied long-term changes in El Niño in the Pacific Ocean. I have a PhD in Physics from CU Boulder and a BA from Cornell University in New York. In my spare time, I like to create cool Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects, program in assembly language on my Apple II computer, research family history, and play board games. I also like to bike and have just taken up longboarding.
