2015 Launch
Updates:
Date: Saturday, Oct 31
Drop off: drop your child off at the school at 5:30 am
Depart Summit: 5:45 am
Arrive Deer Trail: 7:00 am
Launch: 7:50 am
Pick up: at the school, anywhere between 11:00am and 2:00pm
What to bring: lots of water, lots of healthy snacks, a lunch, notebook, camera, binoculars, fully-charged cell phone (if you have one)
What to wear: layers (cold in the morning, warmer later), long pants, rain jacket, hat, sturdy hiking shoes
If you're driving: Full tank of gas!

The launch is being run by Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS). We will launch the balloon at approximately 7:45am. We will then follow an EOSS "tracker" vehicle for 2-3 hours until the balloon lands. The balloon should be trackable on the following websites:

Obey all instructions of the EOSS staff - they are there to make sure you stay safe and have fun; they (and we) need to abide by all FAA and DIA rules.

- Saturday, 2 pm: Success! Payloads recovered. All cars heading back to Summit. Should be back between 3-4pm.
- The payloads have all been delivered to EOSS. They will string them onto the balloon tonight. Tomorrow morning we will need to open each box, plug in the electronics, and then seal the boxes with foil tape.

Lessons Learned
- Write down the start time for each circuit on the payload box itself
- Boxes with cameras - use stabilizing fiberglass rod with weights on each end
- Raspberry Pi - be sure to point outwards for launch
- Much sturdier hiking shoes
