Engineering Lab
In Engineering Lab we'll focus on the engineering principles needed to build experiments for a high-altitude balloon launch sponsored by EOSS.
Learning Targets
By the end of the semester,
- I can describe the field of engineering and give examples of what engineers do.
- I can identify and safely use hand tools, soldering irons, and simple power tools such as drills.
- I can identify the major parts of a microcontroller board such as the Arduino and explain their purpose.
- I can design and build an electronic circuit for taking measurements such as temperature, light, and humidity.
- I can create, run, and debug a computer program that interfaces to a microcontroller.
- I can design and construct a container that can safely carry a scientific payload into an extreme environment.
- I can analyze the data from an experiment, including an error analysis, and explain the results using rigorous scientific principles.
